Which Federal statements work
The Federal Bank account statement PDF from FedNet internet banking.
verified Verified against a real Gen-1 statement. That statement contained a single transaction, so the layout is confirmed but the volume testing other banks have had is not there yet.
Scanned or photographed statements are not supported for any bank yet — they are images and need OCR. Native e-statements downloaded from netbanking are also more accurate, because the text is already in the file rather than being guessed from pixels.
How to download your Federal statement as PDF
- Sign in to FedNet internet banking.
- Open the account and select the statement period.
- Download the statement as PDF.
- Drop it into TieOut and enter the password if prompted.
Menu labels move around as banks redesign their portals. If yours does not match, look for “statement”, “e-statement” or “account statement” and choose PDF rather than Excel or CSV — the PDF is the authoritative document, and TieOut validates against the balances printed on it.
What TieOut does with Federal's layout
A PDF has no table in it. It stores text fragments at x/y coordinates, and the neat columns you see on screen are visual alignment. Rebuilding rows means knowing what this particular bank does — and Federal does the following.
- Federal prints each row across two baselines about 5pt apart — the dates on one, the values on the other. Grouping text into rows by exact vertical position therefore splits every transaction in half. TieOut uses a wider line tolerance for Federal specifically, which is why the rows come out whole.
- Two statement generations are in circulation and both match the same profile: Gen 2 (2025 onward) simply drops the Tran ID column. You do not need to know which one you have.
- The statement ends with a “Grand Total” block and an “Abbreviations used” legend, both of which sit in the transaction columns and are skipped explicitly.

How the Federal conversion is checked
Every extracted row must satisfy balance = previous balance + credit − debit, and the last balance must equal the closing balance printed on your statement. Rows that break the chain are flagged rather than dropped, so a fully green table is provable evidence that no transaction was missed. That is running-balance validation, and it runs on your file rather than on someone else's test set.
Import a Federal statement into Tally Prime
Export as Tally XML, create the bank ledger in Tally under the same name you exported with, then go to Gateway of Tally → Import → Vouchers and select the file. Rows arrive as Receipt and Payment vouchers with stable IDs, so re-importing the same statement updates rather than duplicates. The full path, including the two things that usually go wrong, is in how to import a bank statement into Tally Prime.
Help wanted: a Federal statement
A Federal statement with a few hundred transactions. The layout is verified but only against a single-transaction statement, and volume is what surfaces edge cases.
Is it safe to convert a Federal statement online?
It depends entirely on where the file goes. Almost every online converter uploads your PDF to its server, which puts your account number, balances and every transaction into someone else's storage under their retention policy. TieOut does not upload the file at all — and you can prove it in ten seconds by switching off your Wi-Fi and converting anyway. More on what different converters actually do with your statement.
Federal Bank conversion FAQs
How do I convert a Federal Bank statement PDF to Excel?
Download the statement PDF from FedNet, drop it into TieOut and export as .xlsx or CSV. Parsing runs in your browser, so the statement is never uploaded, and every row is validated against the printed running balance.
Why do Federal Bank rows split in half in other converters?
Federal prints the dates and the values of one transaction on two baselines about 5pt apart. A converter that groups text into rows by exact vertical position reads that as two separate rows, so you get half-empty lines throughout. TieOut uses a wider row tolerance for Federal.
Does TieOut support the new Federal Bank statement format?
Yes. Gen 1 and Gen 2 (2025 onward) both match the same parser profile — the newer one simply omits the Tran ID column.
How thoroughly has Federal Bank been tested?
Less than the others, and it is worth saying plainly: the layout is confirmed against a real statement, but that statement had one transaction on it. The balance check still applies to your file, so you will know if something is wrong rather than having to trust the claim.
